Catalyst Track: Ministers of Reconciliation // Day One

Father Edwin Leahy

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

To say we live in interesting times would be an understatement. A variety of controversial cultural issues vie for our attention and beg for our voices. As leaders, it may be difficult for us to discern the voice of truth or navigate channels of communication and action.

There are, however, simple truths we are called to live out regardless of the cultural complexities.

In this track, we’ll view videos from important thought-leaders who have visited the Catalyst stage. Over the next three days, we’ll hear from Father Edwin Leahy, Trip Lee and Lysa TerKeurst about how we should understand our role as Christian leaders in engaging culture as well how to actually to do it!

If you’re ready to evaluate your own attitude toward culture and take steps to participate in it further, watch the videos and complete the challenges at the end of each day.

DAY 1: Ready, Set, Go

In this video, Father Edwin Leahy explains how the gospel enables us to make the important announcement we possible can as leaders – that God loves those we lead the way they are. This in turn allows us to see and love others as Christ loved us AND loves them.

But this announcement is not one we should wait for people to come to us to proclaim. Instead, he reminds us that we are called to take the initiative and go!

REFLECT: Answer the poll below

What keeps you from loving and proclaiming God’s love to others?

  1. I don’t understand God’s love for me
  2. I have a hard time loving others who are different from me
  3. I am afraid to actively proclaim God’s love to other people
  4. I don’t know how to proclaim God’s love to other people
